Drinks Wales Supports New Category in this Year’s Winter Fair Artisan Produce Competition
November 28, 2014
Take a few splashes of beer, a glug or two of cider, a couple of tots of liqueur, and a few measures of wine, and you have the perfect cocktail for a new drinks competition. And that’s exactly what will be happening at the Royal Welsh Winter Fair this Tuesday, 2 December.
Drinks Wales have worked with the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society to introduce another category to their Artisan Produce competition, inviting Wales’ beer, cider, wine and spirit producers to submit their best products and compete to be first in class.
The competition has also attracted some notable names from across the food and drink industry to take part in the judging. Award winning beer and cider writer Pete Brown will be joined by Peter Amor, chairman of Wye Valley Brewery, Julie Bell of the Felin Fach Griffin, and MD of food business Blas ar Fwyd, Deiniol ap Dafydd.
Cressida Slater has been working with Drinks Wales and the RWAS committee to develop this competition. She says “this is an opportunity to recognise the talented work of the smaller scale drinks producers in Wales alongside that of the food, and we have had a great response for the first year. The Royal Welsh Winter Fair is the perfect time to introduce this and we will be welcoming the public into the Members Centre next Tuesday to watch the judging take place.”
Drinks Wales is supporting the event in its mission to broaden the awareness of the Welsh drinks industry. Further information about producers can be seen on the Drinks Wales website www.drinkswales.org.
